Nintendo Super Famicom [1990] Rating: 5/5

Nintendo SNES [1992] Rating: 5/5

The SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) was a massive improvement on the NES, it had upgraded to 16-bit and had various clock speeds. It also can be used at a high resolution.

Super Mario 3 was released for the NES around the same time. Nintendo then released the Super Famicom in Japan and soon followed with the SNES in the US, then Europe. This new system had great graphics and high quality sound.

The SNES had brought out a newer release of it by 1997 to boost sales and still bring customers that were still interested in a 16-bit system even though they were well into the 32-bit era.

VERDICT
Nintendo's main contender to the SNES was Sega's Mega Drive. It could easily compete and to many won the battle due to its graphics and quality games.
